Mooresville dropped the “F” word multiple times during the early phase of its season-opening football conversation Friday night.
The word, of course, was “fumble.” And once the Blue Devils cleaned up their speaking, they spoke in a much more socially-accepted manner.
Overcoming the loss of three fumbles all taking place within their first four possessions, the homestanding Devils rattled off an unanswered scoring spree resulting in a worth-talking-about, 29-3 drubbing of familiar foe West Rowan in the season debut for both teams at Mooresville’s Coach Joe Popp Stadium.
The decision was rendered in what was the 16th all-time meeting in a season opener between the two teams and the seventh in succession to take place as well. Mooresville gathered in the favorable outcome to also prevail for the fifth time in those last seven showdowns as well.
Overall, it was the 47th all-time meeting between the two teams taking place both as in-conference as well as out-of-conference conditions. By prevailing, Mooresville improved its record in all such battles with West Rowan to the 26-21 mark.
