Canyon View will be sporting a new look this season. The Falcons have turned in their black and teal helmets and jerseys in favor of a black and white design that features a logo that resembles that of the Atlanta Falcons.
“To the naked eye, it looks like the Atlanta Falcon bird, but it’s tweaked,” first-year head coach Skyler Miller said. “It’s different.”
And to the naked eye, the uniform change is exactly that — a uniform change. But, for Miller, it goes deeper than that.
“It fits in what we are selling,” Miller said. “You are either above the line or below the line. You are doing good or doing bad. I’m a black and white human being. You know where you stand.”
The color and design change is symbolic of the program Miller wants to instill at Canyon View. And that’s a program built on a culture of hard work and discipline. A program that doesn’t just prepare players for Friday night’s but also for life.
“Coach Miller has brought a sense of discipline and a heightened culture,” said offensive coordinator Rich Harline, who was on the Falcons coaching staff last season. “Everything is dialed in, so to speak. If there is something to be done and it’s not done right, we are going to get it right. We teach the kids values and principles first. It should be evident in the way the kids talk and the decisions that they make.
