Previously at the Navy Football Coaches Clinic, Ivin Jasper, Navy Offensive Coordinator, laid the Blueprint for Success to guest coaches. He did a Powerpoint presentation exclaiming that if football programs want to have an offense like Navy’s, they must accomplish the following four goals every game:
1. Win the Time of Possession
#1 in the country last year with 33:55/game (55.9 percent of the game).
In high school, this would be over 26 minutes/game.
2. Rushing
Lead nation four out of the last five years with 280 yards/game.
3. Penalties
#1 Fewest penalties with two penalties/game.
4. Turnovers
Averaged one per game last year. Only six teams in FBS averaged less than one.
If you are coaching high school football, you need to do the following to build an Offense like Navy’s:
1. Have the ball more than 26 minutes/game.
2. Average more than 280 rushing yards/game.
3. Have 2 or fewer penalties/game.
4. Have o or 1 turnovers a game at maximum.
I will share what ours are, and how you can develop your own in just a few weeks with the Flexbone Association Academy.
