Keenan Reynolds set an NCAA record by scoring seven rushing touchdowns, including the game winner in the third overtime, and Navy downed San Jose State 58-52 on Friday night.
Reynolds rushed for 240 yards on 36 carries, becoming the fourth quarterback in Navy history to run for more than 1,000 yards and pass for more than 1,000 yards in the same season. He also became the ninth quarterback in NCAA history to score at least 20 rushing touchdowns. He has 26 on the season, one shy of tying the NCAA mark.
“Guys are blocking their butts off the whole game,” Reynolds said, according to Sports Xchange. “I think that definitely had something to do with it. We pride ourselves on grinding people, and grinding them and grinding them until they don’t want to play us anymore. Hats off to my teammates.”
